Jalandhar, April 7, 2022: Department of Biotechnology of Doaba College, organized a two-day DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India sponsored workshop on DNA Science under. Dr. PK Sehajpal, Consultant, Dyo Biotechnologies, Singapore and Nishant Gupta, Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Radhakrishnan Govt. Medical College, Hamirpur, graced the occasion as resource persons .They were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari,Prof KK Yadav, Dr. Rajiv Khosla-Coordinator, Prof Arvind Nanda , Arshdeep Singh, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar and 65 students .
Dr. Pardeep Bhandari mentioned that Biotechnology has emerged as a potentially promising and demanding field during COVID-19 pandemic. He further made his point that the appropriately skilled biotechnologists are the need of the hour pertaining to the current global scenario.
Dr. PK Sehajpal said that such workshops are meaningful at Doaba College only because of the sincere intent of the college administration to train each and every student irrespective of their affiliation with the institution. He provided his incredible expertise to the students for hands on training for Human Genomic DNA isolation from blood, Qualitative and quantitative characterization of DNA by UV Vis Spectrophotometry, Agarose Gel electrophoresis and PCR. Mr. Nishant Gupta elaborated the technical underpinnings of viral RNA isolation and RT- PCR based detection of Sars- Corona Virus
