Ludhiana, August 13, 2022: Department of Pediatrics, DMCH, Ludhiana, in association with Satluj Neonatology forum organized first of its kind workshop on “Lactation Management” for staff nurses as part of North Zone NEOCON 2022 today. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Kamal Arora, Prof, Department of Neonatology and Dr Karambir Singh Gill, Assistant Prof, Department of Pediatrics.
The event stressed on the need of starting breast feeding within 1 hour of birth in case of LSCS and within fifteen minutes of normal delivery. It aimed at empowering staff nurses to assist and teach mothers in breast milk assessment, expression and right technique of positioning and latching.
The event was formally inaugurated by Sunila Gupta, Member, DMCH Managing Society and Dr Suman Puri, Prof. & Unit Head, Department of Obst & Gynae, DMCH, Dr Sushma Nangia, Prof & Head, Neonatology, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, Dr Rajinder Gulati, Senior Pediatrician, Ludhiana and Dr Shachee Baweja, Lactation Consultant, BLK, New Delhi.
Sunila Gupta in her message commended the Department of Pediatrics for taking the initiative of organizing such an event and thanked the experts for sharing their knowledge with everyone.
A discussion session was also organized where nurses asked questions and cleared their doubts with the experts. The panel adorned the esteemed faculty of Dr Sushma Nangia, Dr Rajinder Gulati, Dr Shachee Baweja, Dr Jatinder Singh, Dr Karambir Singh, Dr Sanjana and around 65 staff nurses participated in the event.
