Workshop on Lactation Management held at DMCH

Department of Pediatrics, DMC&H organised a workshop on ‘Lactation Management and Breast Feeding’ as  a part  of Annual State Conference of Satluj Neonatology Forum organised by Satluj Academy of Pediatrics  today in Dumra Auditorium , DMC&H . The workshop was attended by the Doctors and Nursing Staff from all over Punjab.

Ludhiana, November 29, 2024: Department of Pediatrics, DMC&H organised a workshop on ‘Lactation Management and Breast Feeding’ as  a part  of Annual State Conference of Satluj Neonatology Forum organised by Satluj Academy of Pediatrics  today in Dumra Auditorium , DMC&H . The workshop was attended by the Doctors and Nursing Staff from all over Punjab.

The workshop was commenced with lamp lightening ceremony by the Chief Guest, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society  along with Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society. Dr G S Wander Principal DMC&H, Dr Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist HDHI, Dr Puneet A Pooni, Professor & Head Department of Pediatrics and other faculty members form Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology were also graced the occasion.
 
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society, lauded the efforts of Department of Pediatrics for conducting the workshop for nurses and doctors.
 
Dr G S Wander, Principal DMC&H congratulated the Department of Pediatrics for conducting this workshop  and provide valuable insights and hands-on-experiences  about lactation and breast feeding .

Dr Puneet  A Pooni, Professor and Head Department of Pediatrics  said that, DMC&H emphasized that mother milk is liquid gold further she highlighted that let us work together to support breastfeeding mothers & promote optimal lactation management practices & to ensure that all mothers have the opportunity to experience the joy and rewards of nursing their babies.

Dr. Karambir Singh Gill, Assistant Professor Pediatrics, Organizing secretary workshop highlighted that it aimed at  to providing delegates  with the latest evidence based information & practical skills to manage common lactation issues.

A role play and poster making competition was also organized for the nursing students. Winners were awarded with prizes by the chief guest.

Faculty for the workshop were Dr.Rajinder Gulati , Dr. Kamal Deep Arora , Dr Karambir Singh Gill , Dr. Shachee Baweja  and  Dr. Supreet Khurana.

Breastfeeding is a natural & essential part of motherhood. For babies, it provides optimal nutrition, boosts  immune system, reduced risk of infection , allergies and increases bonding and attachment with the baby. Despite these benefits , many mothers face challenges & barriers to breastfeeding.

Expert faculty panel covered a  comprehensive program regarding  assessment & management of breastfeeding difficulties , supporting breastfeeding in special circumstances.

The workshop was attended by more than 100 delegates.
