Chandigarh College of Education Landran organized a two-day virtual Workshop on- Maths Lab On Wheels sponsored by Punjab State Council for Science and Technology
Chandigarh, January 31, 2022: Chandigarh College of Education Landran organized a two-day virtual Workshop on- Maths Lab On Wheels sponsored by Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh. The workshop was organized to develop pedagogical competencies and skills of preparing economical teaching aids covering all concepts of Mathematics from preschool to class Xth. Pre-service teachers from teacher education institutes from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Delhi took active participation in the workshop. The speaker of the workshop was Dr.Sanjeev Kumar, DIET Shimla, H.P. He stressed how classroom management could make teaching-learning an effective process, and how to make it easy, practical, and interesting. The idea behind the two-day workshop was to remove the mathematics-related phobia among not just students but parents and teachers as well by using interesting fun-based learning methods using a variety of play-way techniques to make the subject enjoyable. The students were also introduced to Vedic maths and were asked to present teaching aids developed by them wherein the winners would be selected and suitably rewarded by Ramanujan Club.
Dr. Sanjeevkumar also encouraged the use of vernacular language as it is a scientifically proven fact person understands better in his mother tongue. Dr. Manjula Sharma, in charge of state pedagogy (Himachal Pradesh), was also present. She emphasized the role of teachers in developing mathematical skills among the students along with upscaling the quality teaching processes for better education. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sneh Bansal, Principal, Chandigarh College of Education.
