Chandigarh, November 7, 2024: A three-day workshop on Music Vocal and Instrumental “Raag-Rang” concluded at the Department of Music, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

Eminent “A-Grade” AIR Classical Dhrupad Artist Vidushi Madhu Bhatt Tailang and “A- Graded” AIR Sitarist, Dr. Gagandeep Hothi organised the workshop very enthusiastically in Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande Hall of Music Department.

There were two sessions during the Morning & Evening time on each day. First day on 5th November, in the morning session, the students were taught Dhrupad Gayan by Prof. Madhu Bhatt Tailang. The students were taught meaning of Dhrupad, laybadh alankaar, laykaari, and ten thaat practice, taal practice, and aalap in dhrupad. Brief introduction of Raag darbari, bhairav and malkauns was given with very simple and easy technique’s. In the evening session, Dr. Gagandeep Hothi explained the sitar's sitting, tuning, hand techniques and the ‘gat’ of Raag Yaman.

On this occasion, Professor Neelam Paul delivered the thanks note and felicitated the resource persons and appreciated their outstanding presentation. All students, staff as well as faculty moments gained various technical and professional skills. Sessions was ended by performances of both artists.
