Workshop on prevention of plagiarism in higher education
Large number of educators from university were part of seminar
Bangalore: Dayananda Sagar University organized a workshop on “Academic Integrity and Professional Values” and “Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education”.
Dr. Chandra Janakiram, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Amrita Institute, Kochi presided over as Chief Guest at the seminar. He shared his views on scientific values, misconduct in research and emphasized on Fabrication, Falsification and Plagiarism (FFP). He also explained the effects of plagiarism and why it is still a major issue in the research field, while also talking about “White Bull Effect”. Dr. Chandra deeply expressed his concern on plagiarism being more common in biomedical field of Science and shared tips on plagiarism check.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. K. Muthuchelian, Pro Vice Chancellor said, “A check on Plagiarism and Scientific Ethics in Scientific Writings and Publications is mandatory in higher education institutions. Every higher education institution must have a separate Research Integrity Cell to look into the Ethics and Plagiarism in Thesis and Publications.”
