Workshop on "Simulation: Innovative Educational Strategy" held at DMC & H College of Nursing

Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (D.M.C. & H) College of Nursing (CON), Ludhiana, Punjab in collaboration with Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Punjab state branch successfully conducted a workshop on "Simulation: Innovative Educational Strategy" on Tuesday for nursing faculty and students. This workshop aimed to explore and promote the use of simulation as a cutting-edge teaching methodology in nursing education.

Ludhiana, March 25, 2025: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (D.M.C. & H) College of Nursing (CON), Ludhiana, Punjab in collaboration with Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Punjab state branch successfully conducted a workshop on "Simulation: Innovative Educational Strategy" on Tuesday for nursing faculty and students. This workshop aimed to explore and promote the use of simulation as a cutting-edge teaching methodology in nursing education.

Dr. Nidhi Sagar Vice Principal D.M.C. & H, CON, Organizing Chairperson & Chairperson Education Committee TNAI Punjab State branch welcomed the chief guest Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander Principal, D.M.C. & H, Ludhiana along with the guests of honorDr. Puneet Girdhar Registrar, Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), Mohali, Punjab and Dr. Harmeet Kaur Kang President TNAI Punjab state.  Bipin Gupta Secretary D.M.C. & H Managing Society, Mukesh Kumar Treasurer D.M.C. & H Managing Society, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal Dean Academics, D.M.C. & H, Dr. Sandeep Sharma & Dr. Ashwani Chaudhary Medical Superintendents of D.M.C. & H, Dr.  Prabhjot Saini Secretary TNAI, speakers, chairpersons and delegates were warmly welcomed.

Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander Principal, D.M.C. & H, Ludhiana appreciated everyone and provided insight about the new approach for making teaching learning experience more innovative for future nurses. Dr. Puneet Girdhar Registrar, PNRC shared words of wisdom with everyone and motivated everyone present there. Dr. Harmeet Kaur Kang, President TNAI Punjab state enlightened about the new activities of TNAI Punjab state.

The Commencement session featured insightful discussions on "Innovations in Education Strategies" led by Dr. Davinder Kaur, Principal of Gian Sagar CON, Banur, and the moderators were Dr. Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal, Prof. Amandeep Kaur Chairperson Programme Committee TNAI Punjab state along with Amninder Kaur, Associate Professor. The forenoon sessions continued with a focus on the practical aspects of simulation, including "Decision Making and Basics of Simulation" presented by Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Principal of Govt. CON, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala moderated by Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Professor and Shailza Sharma, Associate Professor D.M.C. & H, CON.

Adiba Siddiqui, Professor from Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU) Mullana, Ambala, led a session on "Simulation: A Method of Teaching Learning" moderated by Prof. Balqis Victor, Joint Secretary TNAI Punjab state and Meenakshi, Associate Professor. Bindu K, Professor at D.M.C & H College of Nursing, further enriched the workshop with her insights on the "Art of Debriefing." under the direction of Dr. Harjit, Principal, College of Nursing, CMC & H, Ludhiana, and Mamta Professor, D.M.C. & H, CON.

The afternoon session was dedicated to a "Hands-on Simulation Session," by faculty and M.Sc. nursing students of D.M.C. & H, CON, provided participants with practical experience in utilizing simulation techniques. 5 CNE hours were awarded by PNRC and all the candidates received their certificates at the end of the session.

The workshop was meticulously coordinated by Organizing Chairperson Dr. Nidhi Sagar, Vice principal D.M.C. & H, CON along with Organizing Secretary Dr. Sandeep Kaur. The event provided a valuable platform for nursing educators and students to learn about and engage with innovative simulation strategies for enhanced teaching and learning outcomes for the future nurses. The workshop was concluded with valedictory session and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sandeep Kaur. Overall, it was a very informative and learning experience.
