Workshop on social work intervention in community health
Centre for Social Work, Panjab University successfully organized a one-day workshop on "Social Work Intervention in Community Health", led by Dr. Daman Ahuja, an eminent personality in the field of Community Health from New Delhi.
Chandigarh, April 17, 2024: Centre for Social Work, Panjab University successfully organized a one-day workshop on "Social Work Intervention in Community Health", led by Dr. Daman Ahuja, an eminent personality in the field of Community Health from New Delhi.
The workshop commenced with a rejuvenating meditation session, emphasizing the importance of self-care and burnout for social workers. He addressed prevalent youth issues in public health, shedding light on various government initiatives taken the field of health for youngsters shared Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. While engaging with the students, he facilitated a group exercises focusing on the physical, emotional, and social changes during adolescence. These exercises can be used by the students while working with the school students. He also highlighted various initiatives taken under national programs like the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram which was launched in year 2014. Ahuja elucidated its components and key interventions. He also discussed the significant milestones of the National AIDS Control Program since its inception in 1992, including the impactful Red Ribbon Express project initiated on December 1, 2007. He gave a detailed presentation about the Red ribbon express. He said that this project had a nationwide outreach to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, he underscored the collaborative efforts across various departments for its success.
The workshop concluded with a comprehensive video presentation elucidating community action for health, outlining its steps and implications for effective intervention and a formal vote of thanks by Gaurav Gaur.
