Chandigarh, April 11, 2025: The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised an engaging workshop on “The Importance of Hygiene and Sanitation in Food Preparation” and “Health Screening and Checkups” at Mata Gujri Hall, Girls Hostel No. 1. 

The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Chairperson, Centre for Public Health, and was graced by Chief Guest Mrs. Samita Sharma, Assistant Professor and Chairperson, Department of Economics. Dr. Poonam Sharma, faculty member at the Centre, also attended.

MPH 2nd year students, Sheetal Kumari and Samridhi, delivered insightful talks. Sheetal emphasised that hygiene and sanitation in food preparation are vital for ensuring food safety and protecting public health. Samridhi discussed the significance of regular health screenings, outlining key tests and their recommended frequency.

A live demonstration on basic home-based health checks made the session interactive and practical. The workshop empowered attendees with actionable knowledge to enhance food hygiene practices and take charge of their personal health
