Workshop on theme “Hands on Training of Tools for Children with Special Needs”
The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies organized a workshop on the theme “Hands on Training of Tools for Children with Special Needs”on 13th February, under the patronage of our honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr) Renu Vig, and chaired by Dr. Md Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the department.
Chandigarh, February 14, 2024: The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies organized a workshop on the theme “Hands on Training of Tools for Children with Special Needs”on 13th February, under the patronage of our honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr) Renu Vig, and chaired by Dr. Md Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the department.
Resource person Dr.Chhaya Sambharya Prasad, Clinical Director of Asha and CAIDD started her lecture by explaining the concept of Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and elaborated its whole process thoroughly. She discussed about RPWD Act 2016, with respect to Specific Learning Disability. She suggested numerous significant tools for earlyidentification of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disability and Intellectual Disability.
Dr.Chhayaconducted the Hands on the many tools;Diagnostic Test for Learning Disability (DTLD), Diagnostic Test for Reading Disability (DTRD), NIMHANS Battery, Grad Level Assessment Device (GLAD) and other intelligence tests and explained its benefits for children with special needs. The students of B.Ed Special Education (Leaning Disability) need to learn about the tools to screen and assess the Learning Disability in school going children and it will help to develop the Individualised Education Plan for them, said Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the Department. At the end, Mr. Nitin Raj, faculty member presented vote of thanks.
