Workshop on “Virtual Labs” 

The Department of Information Technology of UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a One Day Workshop on “Virtual Labs” conducted by IIT Delhi, An Initiative of Ministry of Education under the National Mission of Education through ICT. The expert team from IIT Delhi included Chandan Kumar (Senior Field Engineer), Chirag Dey (Senior Field Engineer) and Shani Kumar (Field Engineer). 

Workshop on “Virtual Labs” 

Chandigarh, February 19, 2024: The Department of Information Technology of UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a One Day Workshop on “Virtual Labs” conducted by IIT Delhi, An Initiative of Ministry of Education under the National Mission of Education through ICT. The expert team from IIT Delhi included Chandan Kumar (Senior Field Engineer), Chirag Dey (Senior Field Engineer) and Shani Kumar (Field Engineer). 

The first session of the workshop began with an introduction to Virtual Labs. The IIT Virtual Labs project, led by IIT Delhi and supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, revolutionizes ICT-based education through remote experimentation. These labs are accessible via the internet, offer simulations-based experiments without requiring additional infrastructure, fostering innovation and collaboration in education. With over 100 Virtual Labs and 700+ web-enabled experiments, it provides access to quality laboratory facilities for students and faculty in science and engineering colleges, as well as high school students and researchers.

In the second session, practical hands on were conducted. During this session, the experts from IIT demonstrated to the participant how to access the Virtual Labs of different streams. Participants were given different experiments to perform based on their domains. The event was held under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Director, UIET and Dr. Amandeep Verma, Coordinator, Department of IT, UIET Chandigarh. Dr. Neelam Goel, Assistant Professor, UIET, Panjab University was the Coordinator  of the workshop and Ms. Rajni Sobti, Assistant Professor, UIET, Panjab university was the Co-cordinator of the  workshop. The workshop was attended by 95 participants including faculty members, research scholars and students from UIET and other institutes from Chandigarh.
