Workshop on psychotherapy applied in Indian settings conducted by Psychowaves expert team

Chandigarh, October 9, 2019: Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized two-day Workshop on Psychotherapy applied in Indian settings conducted by Psychowaves expert team from different states of India trained in applications of various psychotherapeutic techniques.
Prof. Navleen Kaur, Chairperson in her inaugural address emphasised on the importance of Cognitive Psychotherapy in managing various mental health issues without medicine. She also emphasized that instead of defending on medicine, counseling, family and social support could mitigate the suffering of humanity
The faculty of the course from psychowaves team included Dr Jini K Gopinath, Master Trainer for Psychotherapies, Dr Tarlochan Singh, senior psychologist and Director psychowaves and Prof Dwarka Prashad, a Retired Prof of Clinical Psychology from PGI, Chandigarh.
Dr Tarlochan Singh said, “Nearly 30% of population needs immediate attention that are suffering from various mental health and emotional issues. There is huge gap between the professional Psychological services and the sufferer because of lack of trained mental professionals. So such trainings program encourages the practitioners to learn and get practical hands on training exposure with trained experts.
All the Faculty of the Department of Community Education and Disability Studies including Shamsad Alam, Dalel Singh, Nitin Raj participated in the said workshop.
