Workshop on Sustainable Water Resources in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, December 8, 2014: An intervarsity competition and regional consultative workshop on Sustainable Water Resources was organised in Lyallpur Khalsa College today in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) New Delhi. Over 20 teams from different universities and colleges participated in the event.

Welcoming the guests the college Principal Dr. G.S. Samra said that the level of underground water in India, particularly in Punjab, was lowering at an alarming rate and immediate measures needed to be taken to ensure recharging of water resources. He appealed the government to take an early action in this regard so that this threat could be dealt with in time.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Speaker Kulbir Singh Bath Principal Scientific Officer PSCST said that it was of the need of the hour to spread awareness about water resources conservation, as well against water wastage. Dr. Chander Kumar Assistant Professor TERI elaborated to the audience various ways to conserve water resources.   The convenor of the seminar Livleen Kaur urged the academic intelligentsia to play a proactive role in this regard. She thanked Prof. J.S. Rana Head Geography department of the college for his contribution in making the seminar a success.
