Ludhiana, August 24, 2019: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana, organized a workshop on “Technical Needs of MSMEs” at CICU Complex, Ludhiana.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU said that Chamber has been organizing various programs for the benefit of the Industry and Trade Sectors of Punjab. Skill Up-gradation of the Industry specially MSME is one of the key agenda under the “Make in India” and “Zero Defects Zero Effect” initiatives by the Government of India which are facilitated by Chamber to promote productivity, quality and environmental issues etc. it will benefits Small and Medium Enterprises which are situated at Gill Road Areas, especially Shimlapuri and Janta Nagar.

He further said that for this consistence and persistent efforts are required to be done for innovation and R&D so that our industry can compete at Global Level for sustainable growth. So there is a dire need of such programs for the growth and development of SMEs.

The interactive and thought provoking workshop was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Rupinder Tiwari, Chief Coordinator, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Puri, Senior Coordinator and Prof. (Dr.) Manu Sharma, Coordinator – DST Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), Panjab University Chandigarh. They explained in details regarding activities being carried out by TEC for the benefit of MSMEs with respect to their needs (present and futuristic) relating to technological innovations, challenges and solutions. TEC will be working as a compendium for the collaboration / innovation / R&D with the cooperation of the MSMEs to achieve these objectives. They requested the representatives of MSMEs participating in the program to share their technical needs, challenges, issues for specific needs of innovation and R&D, where TEC can give them the solutions, under various Govt. Schemes at a very low cost. These schemes cover almost all the important sectors of the manufacturing industry in India. The TEC Panjab University Chandigarh is a very active centre which is interlinked with other 8 other TEC centres in India for Technology Transfer as per present and future needs of the manufacturing industry especially in MSMEs. The PPTs were shown on many innovation and R&D work done by TEC, PU, Chandigarh. The case studies of some important projects presently under progress were also shown through the PPTs. The concerned industry owners also shared their experience about the TEC projects.

Senior CICU-CFT Members, Satinderjit Singh Prop. M/s Autom Engineers and Kulwant Singh Sall Partner M/s Sall Brothers, Didarjit Singh Prop. of M/s Karam Chucks (Regd.), Gurcharan Singh Prop. M/s G.S. Mankoo, Gurjinder Singh Prop. M/s Harbhajan Singh & Sons and more than 30 participants form different types of MSMEs participated in the program and shared their technical issues, needs, challenges and present plans for technical innovation and R&D activities in their units.

Pankaj Sharma General Secretary CICU said that the knowledge shared in this program will definitely benefit the MSMEs. He was hopeful that more and more SMEs in this area will attend such programs in future for their benefits.
