Workshop to empower Kashmiri students at PU
10 day workshop is specially organized for students from Kashmir
Chandigarh: Panjab University is organizing a “National Workshop on Analytical Instrumentation” from February 09 to 18, 2020 under the aegis of the Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Centre. This ten day workshop is specially organized for the students from Kashmir.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh will inaugurate the workshop. Professor Kumar initiated this plan to empower the students from remote areas such as Kashmir, Northeast and upper Himachal. He considers that science and technology should reach the remotest areas to inspire the talent and groom it.
Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Director SAIF/CIL/UCIM told that this time 44 participants from Kashmir are taking part in this workshop to learn the fundamentals of analytical instruments. The training will be impacted by expert faculty and application scientists from different companies. The major instrument suppliers such as Forevision India, Jeol, Bruker, Waters and Metrhom will appraise the participants about the latest developments in the field of analytical instruments. He further informed that students who have not registered for workshop are also welcomed to attend the session of their choice.
Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF), Chandigarh being one of the most vibrant facility created by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) is catering to the needs of researchers not only the region but has deep impact on quality research throughout the country. The centre analyses more than 25000 samples every year catering more than 5000 researchers. Center intends to conduct more such workshops in future.
