World Aids Day observed at DMCH

Ludhiana, December 1, 2021: HIV continues to be a a major public health issue that affecting millions of people worldwide. December 1st has been marked by WHO as an International day dedicated to AIDS.
Department of Microbiology DMCH observed World's Aids Day by conducting an awareness session for technical staff and awareness quiz for the MBBS batch 2019.The aim of observing this day is to raise awareness about HIV. This year theme for this day is “End inequalities. End AIDS”. There is an urgent need to end the inequalities the drive AIDS and other pandemics around the world.
Secretary DMCH Managing Society DMCH, congratulated the Department of Microbiology for their continuous efforts for conducting such awareness sessions.
Dr Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head Department of Microbiology said that it is spread by contact with certain body fluids of a person with HIV(blood, semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk etc.) most commonly through unsafe sex or through sharing injection drug equipment.
There is no cure of HIV infection however access to effective prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of HIV infection has become a manageable chronic health condition.
