World AIDS Day observed at DMCH
Ludhiana, December 1, 2018: World AIDS Day was observed today in Medicine OPD of the hospital. Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina addressed the gathering of patients and their attendants present in OPD. In his message, Dr Chhina said that with the passage of time, awareness regarding AIDS has increased and there have been less cases of patients suffering from HIV/AIDS. The main problem prevalent in our society is that there is lot of social stigma attached to AIDS patients in our society. There are many myths which people follow while dealing with people suffering from AIDS like avoiding talking to them or avoid shaking hands with them and thinking them as social outcast. Students from College of Nursing and Para Medical Sciences conducting a role lay in which they beautifully depicted the AIDS awareness programme. Other faculty members present on the occasion include Dr Sunil Kumar Gupta (Professor & Head of Dermatology), Dr Dinesh Jain (Professor of Medicine) Dr Veenu Gupta,Dr Rama Gupta and Dr Jyoti Chaudhary from Department of Microbiology. In addition to World AIDS Day being observed today, Department of Microbiology under the headship of Dr Deepinder Chhina organized three-day workshop for paramedical staff of the institution. In the workshop, the paramedical staff were sensitized about HIV/AIDS awareness programme. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Sh Prem Kmar Gupta said that DMCH has always been instrumental in spreading awareness about AIDS/HIV among the public,
