World Art Day 2025 Celebrated at Panjab University

On World Art Day 2025, Panjab University, Chandigarh Dean University Instructions, Professor Yojna Rawat, today inaugurated the PU Department of Art History and Visual Arts exhibition “Who am I? An Inner Search Through Wood Art,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University.  The department is hosting a 10 days long solo exhibition. An interactive session by Vienna-based Indian artist Sureel Kumar was also organised today.

Chandigarh, April 15, 2025: On World Art Day 2025, Panjab University, Chandigarh Dean University Instructions, Professor Yojna Rawat, today inaugurated the PU Department of Art History and Visual Arts exhibition “Who am I? An Inner Search Through Wood Art,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University.  The department is hosting a 10 days long solo exhibition. An interactive session by Vienna-based Indian artist Sureel Kumar was also organised today.

The exhibition is curated by Professor Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson and Director, Museum of Fine Arts. Ms. Renuka Salwan, Vice President, National Executive, Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), attended the exhibition as the Guest of Honour. 

The event marked the beginning of a 10-day exhibition, running from 15 to 25 April 2025, showcasing vibrant wood mosaics, murals, and sculptures that reflect the artist’s meditative journey of self-inquiry. Sureel Kumar’s work, deeply rooted in the patterns and spirit of natural wood grain, invites visitors into a visual exploration of identity and introspection.


Professor Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya said that the “‘Who am I?’ offers a fresh perspective on the inner search of the artist, inviting viewers to engage in a visual dialogue about self-inquiry and art.”

The World Art Day is observed globally on 15 April to honour Leonardo da Vinci’s legacy, the exhibition aligns with this year’s theme: “A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art.” The theme underscores art’s power to unite, reflect, and inspire communities.

The exhibition is open daily to the public at the Museum of Fine Arts, a heritage building celebrated for its architectural beauty within the Panjab University campus.
