World Breastfeeding Week observed
To commemorate “World Breastfeeding Week” Department of Paediatrics in association with Department of Gynaecology and Department of Dietetics, DMCH organized a declamation contest for Post Graduate students of Paediatrics, Gynaecology and for the intern of Deptt. of Dietetics to promote breastfeeding.
Ludhiana, August 8, 2022: To commemorate “World Breastfeeding Week” Department of Paediatrics in association with Department of Gynaecology and Department of Dietetics, DMCH organized a declamation contest for Post Graduate students of Paediatrics, Gynaecology and for the intern of Deptt. of Dietetics to promote breastfeeding.
A role play was also held by the intern students of Deptt. of Dietetics to emphasize the importance of breast milk and during the declamation contest students show their valuable thoughts regarding how mother’s milk is beneficial for overall growth.
In his message, Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society DMCH lauded the efforts of all departments to conduct this informative event.
All faculty members from three departments were present on the occasion to listen interesting contest with the theme of ‘Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’
During the event, various health benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and for the baby were discussed. For a baby it helps to boost the immune system as it has numerous nutrients and is very helpful for the growth of the baby. For mothers, it lowers the risk of various diseases which are breast cancer, ovarian cancer, diabetes, endometriosis and cardiovascular disease.
