Ludhiana, June 5, 2024: The World Environment Day was celebrated today at Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
The event was conducted in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local centre and Lions Club, Ludhiana.
Around 30 fruit bearing trees were planted in the campus area.
Giving a brief about the theme of the day: Land restoration, desertification and draught resilience, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Executive Director, STEP GNDEC and Chairman,IE(I), Ludhiana local centre said that un mindful felling of trees for widening of roads has greatly harmed the environment. He cited various examples to show case the point. Lion UPS Sachdeva, President Lions Club, Ludhiana and Lion B S Narang, Project Chairman said that Lions club was promoting the tree plantation and other environment related causes regularly.
Senior members from IE(I), Ludhiana and Lions Club Ludhiana attended the event.
Budding start up entrepreneurs incubating at STEP GNDEC also participated in the event with full zeal.
