On World Environment Day, saplings planted at DAV College
Jalandhar, June 6, 2019: To make the students aware about environment , World Environment Day was celebrated by NSS ,Red Ribbon Club and Youth Service Club of College. Planting was done by DAV College's NSS ,Red Ribbon Club and Youth Service Club to make students aware about environment on the occasion of World Environment Day. During this Alumnus of the College C.A Sh. Vasu Aggarwal was present as the Chief Guest who were welcomed by Principal Dr.S.K.Arora, Vice Principal Prof.V.K.Sareen and NSS Coordinator Prof.S.K.Midda by offering a flower bouquet. During this Prof. Dr. S. K. Arora said that Nature is our biggest friend , it gives us life but as the cities are evolving , greenery is decreasing and concrete forests are increasing year after year . Every year pollution is increasing and due to this statistics of death are also increasing and if we don't took a step now then in coming years ,there will only forests and hills be left to breathe in fresh and clean air . Pollution is leading to decrease in our breaths and its effect can also be seen on many newborn babies. Due to Deforestation,temperature is increasing and the rainfall is decreasing ,that's why we should plant more and more trees. Occasions like World Environment Day can be a moment to take a oath to give our upcoming generation a clear and clean air to breath in. Chief Guest C. A Shri Vasu Aggarwal said that in the last few years incidents like earthquake,flood,tsunami have increased rapidly. There is a heavy loss of life and property in these disasters of nature. Indeed, all of this is happening due to changes in our eco-system and rapidly increasing global warming. As the scientists say that today our earth is carrying way more than its wejght and if there is no change in this situation ,we would be needing another Planet to stay by 2030 ,that's why we should save our environment. Vice Principal Prof. V.K.Sareen said that common people should also contribute to environment and for this we must keep our surroundings clean.Don't throw garbage on the roads and also don't set the garbage on fire. Send garbage for recycling. There should be separate dustbin for plastic,paper, e - waste so that it can easily go for recycling. From all these we can save the environment. NSS Coordinator Prof.S.K.Midda said that God has given us the gift of nature which nourishes us every moment.Today we are cutting trees and harming that nature. The responsibility of protecting this nature is on our shoulders. On this World Environment Day ,we should take a pledge that we will protect nature and would plant more trees . During this , Prof. Monika , Prof. Pooja , Prof. Rahul Sekhri along with students were present.
