Children exhibiting work of art on environment theme, on the occasion of Environment Day in the presence of officials from Municipal Corporation Mohali.
Mohali, June 5, 2019: To coincide with World Environment Day, VR Punjab here, in association with British Council, held many activities to inculcate awareness among children and adults alike towards the fragile environment.
‘A save earth - drawing competition & exhibition’ was organised. Children from different schools of tricity like The Little Millennium School, Mohali participated in this. The idea was to provide a platform to children for them to show their love towards nature and environment, through creative drawings and slogans.
Another unique event held was an ‘Art project from household waste material’. Here the concept of recycling was brought up-front and people were seen using household waste to make art objects. Municipal Corporation officials conducted a session to make people aware about their onus towards environment.
It is noteworthy that many summer workshops are taking place under ‘Champs Camp’, which is on at VR Punjab till June 9. The environment day activities were also part of the ‘Champs Camp’. The camp is seeing activities like photography, science show & science workshop, art & craft, calligraphy, origami , cookery, dance, theatre, cue maths etc. All school children taking part in the innovative workshops are getting a certificate of participation. For the first time in North India children’s favourite Nerf gun activity – Play Nerf Live is being held.
