World Heart Day: Docs, patients take part in mini cyclothon
Zirakpur, September 29, 2021: As many as 50 people including doctors, staff and the patients who were treated for knee problems in the past , took part in a mini cyclothon at Amcare Hospital Zirakpur on Wednesday to mark World Heart Day.
Dr. Gagandeep Gupta, senior orthopedician said that it’s very important to lead an active life to maintain a good cardiac health. Brisk walking and cycling are the best exercises to maintain a good heart and post knee joint replacement the knee patients could do all actively.
One of cyclothon participants, Mohinder Sodhi (62) from Derabassi said that after knee replacement he is able to do cycling, brisk walking and yoga etc. Another participant Neelima Sood (65) said that she had started developing coronary artery disease as she was not able to move due to knee pain and arthritis. The painkillers started affecting the heart and other organs. Then she decided to go for knee joint replacement and now after one and half years of knee surgery she is leading a good and active lifestyle with good cardiac health.
