World Mental Health week observed by online yoga and awareness session for healthcare workers

Ludhiana: Department of   Psychiatry organized “World Mental Health Week” from 3rd October to 10th October. The theme of “World Mental Health Week” this year was Mental Health for All, Greater Investment – Greater Access. Everyone, everywhere
 
During the whole week, online yoga sessions and awareness session were organized for all the health care workers of DMCH, Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) & DMCH Cancer Care Centre for their mental wellbeing.
 
Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of the Department of Yoga & Department of Psychiatry for organizing these awareness session for all the healthcare workers of DMCH. In his message Mr Gupta Said that DMCH, as a premiere medical institution of the region has been taking extremely good care in overall well being of the people.
 
 Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Dean Academics & Incharge Health Education Cell, DMCH said   that COVID19 has impacted on the mental health of million of the people worldwide.  Many of them have struggled with anxiety, fear, isolation, social distancing and restrictions, uncertainty and emotional distress. So awareness about their mental well being is  very necessary to all. With the purpose of this DMCH has organized these awareness session for all the healthcare workers of DMCH.
 
Dr Ranjive Mahajan (Professor & Head of Psychiatry) addressed that our mental health is just like our physical health: everybody has it and we need to take care of it. Mental wellbeing describes how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life. It can change from moment to moment, day to day, month to month or year to year. One person from four people affected   by mental disorder.  
 
Dr Navkiran Mahajan (Professor of Psychiatry) said that the “World Mental Health Week” every year focuses on maintaining good mental health and taking precautions of other factors associated with it. This year's theme was Mental Health for All, Greater Investment – Greater Access. Everyone, everywhere which  means mental health is a human right – it’s time that mental health is available for all.

•       Eat healthy diet
•       Get proper sleep
•       Avoid alcohol, smoking & drugs
•       Involved themselves  in any physical exercise
•       Connect with others and be sociable
•       Take regular breaks from on screen activities
•       Do not hesitate to take help when needed
