World ORS Day Observed at DMC&H
On the occasion of World ORS Day in 2023, the Department of Paediatrics at DMC&H and the Child Health Nursing Department at the DMCH College of Nursing organised a public awareness event under the guidance of Principal of DMC&H CON, Dr Triza Jiwan. The phrase "Only Rational Solution for Diarrhea" serves as the subject for this year's World ORS Day.
Ludhiana, August 1, 2023: On the occasion of World ORS Day in 2023, the Department of Paediatrics at DMC&H and the Child Health Nursing Department at the DMCH College of Nursing organised a public awareness event under the guidance of Principal of DMC&H CON, Dr Triza Jiwan. The phrase "Only Rational Solution for Diarrhea" serves as the subject for this year's World ORS Day.
Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Academics, Dr. Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal of DMC&H CON, Dr. Deepak Bhat, Professor, Paediatrics, Dr. GS Dhooria, Professor Paediatrics, Sumeet Jassal, Assistant Professor, and Navdeep Kaur, Nursing Tutor at DMC&H CON were all present at the event.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society, lauded the efforts of the College of Nursing and the Dept of Pediatrics.
Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, Academics said that the ORS is the most essential medicine for the cure of Diarrhea in children and there can be no substitute for it.
Dr GS Dhooria Professor, Pediatrics said fast food should be avoided at all times especially with online food delivery services, it has become easier for children to access food without going out. Parents should be vigilant about what their children are consuming to prevent illness.
Dr. Deepak Bhat, Professor of Paediatrics, stated that ORS is the least expensive technique for reducing dehydration brought on by diarrhea. It may also be made at home using 1 litre of heated and cooled down water, 6 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice.
Dr Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal, DMC&H CON, said that this program is organized to sensitize parents of young children about what to do and not to do to treat dehydration in children.
BSc Nursing 3rd year students presented a role play on “Prevention of Diarrhea & Promotion of ORS” and also a poster making competition on the theme, under the guidance of Sumeet Jassal, Assistant Prof and Navdeep Kaur, Nursing Tutor, DMC&H.
