World population day observed
The best performing staff in family planning was honored at the function
Ludhiana: Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Ludhiana Dr Kiran Ahluwalia, a World Population Day function was held at the local Civil Surgeon office ludhiana. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kiran Ahluwalia apprised the eligible couples about the importance of a limited family and an exhibition on family planning methods was also set up outside .
The Civil Surgeon said that this year World Population Day was being celebrated in the face of pandemic. She said that the ever-growing population was a matter of serious concern. While the government is playing an active role in overcoming this, joint social efforts are also required to achieve good results in this endeavor. She said that one of the reasons for the increase in population is the desire of boys instead of girls.She added that for a healthy family it is imperative to keep a gap of at least three years between the birth of two children. Due to the growing population, a large number of people are deprived of basic necessities, for which crude and fixed methods of family planning can be adopted, which were also explained in detail. She said that the rapid growth of population was creating new challenges in the path of development and due to the increase in population poverty, hunger, illiteracy, unemployment, inflation and pollution have also increased exponentially. The best performing staff in family planning was honored at the function.
