Jalandhar, February 10, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of Physics hosted an insightful lecture titled “Breaking Barriers: Glass Science for Tomorrow,” featuring the esteemed Prof. Arun Varshneya, President of The Society of Glass Technology (SGT), Sheffield, UK, often referred to as the Glass Guru.
Prof. Varshneya during the lecture shared groundbreaking insights into recent advances in glass science, highlighting its transformative potential in diverse sectors such as renewable energy, electronics, architecture, and biomedical applications. He also explained to students the process of chemical strengthening of glass, highlighting its significance in meeting the market demand for a chemically strengthened glass cartridge for EpiPens. He inspired the students to think big and strive for remarkable success & discussed the vital role of glass in the medical field. His talk emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of glass research, demonstrating how innovations in material science are helping to break traditional barriers and offer solutions to the challenges of the future. Fatter the lecture, an interactive session was also conducted in which inquisitive students asked various questions from Prof. Varshneya. Students praised the session for its inspiring content, with many noting that Prof. Varshneya’s insights significantly expanded their understanding of glass science and its vast potential applications.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV always takes lead in providing students with opportunities to engage with international platforms and connect with leading experts. She lauded the efforts of PG Department of Physics for successfully organising the event.
