World Sight Day observed

Ludhiana, October 14, 2021: Department of Ophthalmology (Eye) at DMCH organised an awareness talk and poster making competition in the Eye OPD block, on the “World Sight Day”. This year's theme for the day is “love your eyes”.
The chief guest for the event was Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society DMCH. Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal  and Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary and Dr Sandeep Sharma were also present on the occasion.
 In his message, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH actively       participates   in conducting such types of awareness talks among the public.
In his message, Dr Sandeep Puri Principal, DMCH said that everyone should be aware about their own eye health. Eyes are precious and sight is the biggest blessing. No one should ignore any kind of visual problem and always seek prompt advise.
Dr Sumeet Chopra, Professor & Head Department of Ophthalmology (Eye) said that the main purpose of this day is to create awareness regarding eye health among the public. Human eye is essential eye is an essential sense organ, which helps us to see and visualise the things, but some eye diseases can lead to vision loss. So it is important to identify and treat eye diseases timely.
Dr Priyanka  Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology highlighted that children need regular eye check-up in every 4-6 months and Dr Sahil Goel, Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology shared that department of Ophthalmology at DMCH is well equipped to cater and provide treatment for all kinds of eye problems. We have all the facilities available for diagnosis and treatment of refractive errors for all age groups.  Tips to keep your eyes healthy.
 Eat healthy diet
 Wear sunglasses
 If you wear contacts, take steps to prevent eye infections
 Visit your eye doctor regularly
 Give rest to your eyes
 Look away  from the screens, to reduce eye strain try the 20-20-20 rule which means every 20 minute, look away about 20 feet, for 20 seconds.
