‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ marked at DMCH

Ludhiana: Department of Psychiatry, DMCH, Ludhiana today marked “World Suicide Prevention Day” by generating awareness among public to identify the causes which lead to suicidal tendencies among your near and dear ones. The theme of World Suicide prevention day this year ‘Together- we can prevent suicide’
Secretary of DMCH Managing society-Sh Prem Gupta, in his message said that mental health is a very serious and common issue now-a-days and DMCH, as a premiere medical institution of the region has been taking extremely good care in overall well being of the people.
Dr Ranjive Mahajan (Professor & Head of Psychiatry) says that the incidences of suicides has arisen over the years and the main reason being too stressed and more vulnerable to the negative thoughts and surroundings around. He strongly advices that anyone who identifies this type of suicidal thought should always talk about it openly with your near and dear ones and should immediately follow the professional consultant of a psychiatrist in curing such thought.
Dr Mahajan strongly suggests that for better mental health care, besides taking meditation, it is equally important to indulge in a physical activity or make a schedule for regular exercise and workout.
