World University Rankings-2022 System ranks LPU Engineering Program as 10th amongst Top Universities of India

Jalandhar: The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which is counted among the most reputed rankings globally for higher education institutes world, has ranked Lovely Professional University (LPU) amongst the top universities of India in various disciplines. Thousands of universities from across 99 countries participated in the ‘Times Higher Education World University Rankings- 2022’ system this year. In the Engineering subject LPU is ranked at 10th position sharing the position with BITS Pilani and many of the IITs, while in Computer Science LPU has been ranked 9th sharing ranks with Delhi Technical University; and, America’s Florida International University.

In the ‘Clinical & Health’ subject LPU is ranked 8th amongst top universities of India and is covered in 601+ Band globally sharing ranks with America’s Texas State University and AMU of India. Similarly, sharing the league with Canada’s University of Windsor and India’s University of Calcutta; LPU is also ranked 10th in Life Sciences for 601-800 Band.

Very few Indian universities are able to make it to the elite list of ranking by THE. Phil Baty, Chief Knowledge Officer, THE said: “The UK and US have traditionally been home to the world's top universities across the disciplines of Clinical and Health, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Psychology, and although the results of these rankings suggest that remains the same, it's clear that we're seeing other countries and regions, particularly across Europe and Asia improving their performances, echoing what we've seen in the recently released THE World University Rankings 2022.”

Internationally, University of Oxford has secured first ranking in overall university ranking whereas Harvard University has grabbed the first spot for Life Sciences. Moreover, being covered in the overall 1000-1200 band along with IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Mandi and University of Mumbai; LPU is also ranked 37th overall in India, in the ‘THE 2022 rankings’.

Recently, the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the NIRF Rankings 2021 for 10 different categories including Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, etc. LPU’s several of the programs including Architecture, Pharmacy, Engineering, Management & Law were declared among the top rated in NIRF ranking too. 

Addressing faculty and staff members of the university, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal further motivated all by sharing: “Indeed, we all at LPU are proud of this significant moment by entering the prestigious world rankings system. Within its maiden year of its participation, LPU has not only outshined hundreds of institutions of the country but also proved its resolve to the world by bagging a place along with the top few universities of the world. Under great inspiration with this coveted ranking, we all should continue aiming to gain more of such honours in the near future as well.”

This ranking process is considered the most diverse and gold standard university ranking system in the world. In fact, adding fresh ranking accolades to already gained top rankings from foremost ranking agencies, including MHRD’s NIRF 2021; LPU has steadily been proving to be the most trustworthy educational institution for promising students from across the world and the country.
