Ludhiana, March 22, 2025: Designex Architects marked World Water Day with a discussion on this year's theme, Glacier Preservation. Ar. Sanjay Goel, Chief Architect at Designex Architects and former Director of Ludhiana Smart City Limited, shed light on the significance of glaciers, highlighting that nearly 70% of the Earth's freshwater is stored in snow and ice, serving as a crucial water source for approximately 2 billion people.

He emphasised the role of architects in conserving water and electricity through sustainable building practices. Strategies such as rainwater harvesting, underground water storage for recirculation, and the installation of sensor taps were discussed as key measures to enhance water conservation in the built environment.

The event also revisited themes from previous years, including Water for Peace (2024), Accelerating Change (2023), Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible (2022), and Valuing Water (2021).

Mannat Garg further underscored the importance of individual and community efforts in water conservation, encouraging participation in local events, raising awareness, reducing water consumption, and educating others on sustainable water use.
