XXXIII Annual Conference of ‘Indian Academy of Neurosciences’ at PU from Oct 31 to Nov 2

Chandigarh, October 30, 2015: Panjab University (PU) along with PGIMER would host XXXIII Annual Conference of ‘Indian Academy of Neurosciences’ at PU from October 31 to November 2, 2015.
The Conference is being organised on the theme of ‘Neuroscience Research from Mechanisms to Applications’. It is a combined effort of all the CRIKC Institutes and focused towards bench to bed side translational research. The conference would address various aspects of neuroscience and neurological disorders and the efforts of the neuroscience community in ameliorating these problems. 
The conference would be inaugurated by Distinguished Scientist and Director General Life Scineces, DRDO Dr Manas Kumar Mandal. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, President of the Academy and Director, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar Dr Subrato Sinha and national and international delegates would also participate in the prestigious conference.
About 150 scientists and delegates from India and abroad would deliberate on a wide range of topics like Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Neuroplasticity, Nutrition, Health and Neurodegenerative disease etc. 
The conference will also have two award sessions Tulsabai Somani Educational Trust Award and Dr. DM Kar prize for best oral presentations to encourage young and budding neuroscientists. 
With the growth in neurological disorders in recent decades owing to life style stress and other occupational and environmental factors, this conference is also an initiative by PU to rediscover the potential of traditional medicinal plants like Aswagandha and several others as therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders. 
The Indian Academy of Neurosciences was formed in 1982 to foster neuroscience research in the country chose Chandigarh as its venue for its XXXIII Annual Conference in acknowledgement of the contributions of the City Beautiful towards the advancement of knowledge in neurosciences, said Prof Rajat Sandhir, Organizing Secretary and Professor at Department of Biochemistry, PU. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
