Chandigarh, December 28, 2014: Japan’s leading research body, Society of Separation Process Engineers of Japan (SSPEJ) has offered exchange of research data and technology with India.
The offer was made by Chairman, Hy ChemTechno Technology Office and Former President of SSPEJ Hiroshi Yagi during the Indo-Japanese Symposium at the Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Campus.
The symposium was organised by IIChE on the central theme of the conference ‘Separation Technology for Green Environment’ at the ongoing 67th Annual Session of the Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON).
Yagi called for future collaboration between India and Japan and invited IIChE to the International Conference on Separation Science and Technology (ICSST).
Punjab Minister of Industry and Commerce, Punjab Shri. Madan Mohan Mittal inaugurated the symposium. He described Japan as India’s friend and referred to the Prime Minister Narendera Modi recent visit to Japan. He urged the scientist to help the campaign ‘Make in India’ and skill development of the youths.
Izumi Hirasawa, awardee CHEMCON NEERI Distinguished Speaker Award spoke on the topic “Recovery of Substance from wastewater by using crystallization”. Deepak Group’s Padma Bhushan LK Doraiswamy CDS Award, was presented to Kastumi Tochigi, Emeritus Professor of Nihon University, Japan, who spoke on the topic ‘Prediction of Density and Viscocity Using Polynomial expansion equation, Genetic Algorithm and Antoine Constants’.
The last CDS award of the day was awarded to Ravinder Sierra P. Eng. He enlightened audience on the topic ‘An overview of Upstream Production techniques used to develop oil sands in Canada’.
Technical Sessions on sub-themes including Green Chemistry Engineering and Technology, Environmental Science and Engineering , Chemical Industries, Bio-based Technology and Food Technology and Security were also conducted during the day.
The second day of CHEMCON-2014 ended with a cultural glimpse on theme of ‘Vibrant Punjab’ presented by students of SSB University Institute of Chemical & Engineering Technology (UICET) in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala.
