YEAR 2012: 478 persons booked under NDPS Act

Ferozepur, December 27, 2012:  During the campaign against anti-social elements and smugglers, in the year 2012, 390 cases were registered under NDPS Act and in all,478 accused were arrested from whom 46 Kg 288 gm heroin, 56 Kg 161 gm opium, 738 Kg 900 gram poppy husk, 690 gm smack, 594982 intoxicant tablets, 445 injections, 410 kg 40 gm bhang, 55 litre liquid intoxicant and 18.720 kg intoxicant powder was recovered, said Varinder Pal Singh, SSP, Ferozepur while addressing the press conference.

SSP further said that today, the Ferozepur police got a another grand success under the campaign started against the anti-social elements on recovery of six packets of one Kg each valuing Rs.30 crores in the international market from motorcycle borne persons identified as  Gurjant Singh alias Janti and Jarnail Singh alias Kala of Machhiwara. 

Giving this information, SSP Varinder Pal Singh informed that near the old BSF Neki Wala while checking the suspicious nature persons, two motorcycle borne persons were stopped and during the search in the presence of Vibhor Kumar Sharma, DSP, one jute bag containing six packets of heroine of one Kg each was recovered from them.

SSP further said that a case under NDPS act under Sections 21, 25, 29, 61 and 85 have been registered.  More clues are expected during the investigation which would help to reach the smugglers to whom this consignment was to be handed over.
