Year 2014 added world-wide acclamations to LPU endeavours

Jalandhar, December 30, 2014: The eulogy made for Lovely Professional University by eminent international, national personalities & celebrities those visited its campus during 2014 is testimony enough to illustrate LPU’s marvellous strides yearlong.  USA State- South Carolina’s first female Governor Nikki Haley holds: “I am so incredibly impressed by amazing achievements made by such a young university”. H E Alfred Ndabarasa from Rwanda High Commission views: “I am pleasantly surprised with what LPU has done for the education of the youth of India and the World. May the Lord bless their all efforts”. Whether the fields remained for international academic collaborations, exchange programs, national tie-ups, visit of eminent personalities, celebrities, prestigious rankings, entrepreneurship, research & development, faculty & students’ illustrious attainments, hosting of external cultural & sports activities, placements, or other proud moments, the year 2014 added great glory to LPU.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal holds: “We work harder day by day when other speak high about achievements made at LPU. We will keep on striving in diverse fields to let LPU known as one of the leading universities in the world.”

For illustrious collaborations and allied programs, LPU signed MoUs with Canada’s University of Fraser Valley, Northern Illinois University of USA, and Thammasat University of Thailand. Collaboration with prestigious Birmingham City University of UK is getting streamlined. This all is to add more foreign universities in the already existing long list of 50+ other such academic tie-ups. Delegates from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Sri Lanka visited to know about academic pursuits of LPU. International students from Coventry University UK, IOWA State University of USA & Mount Royal University Canada visited LPU on student exchange programs. As for national tie-ups, CRPF-Family Welfare Association (CWA) signed an MoU; Maruti Suzuki collaborated for Vocational Programs; Google opened its first all Women Developer Network of North India at LPU campus; Punjab Govt Tourism Deptt conducted ‘Hunar se Rozgar tak’ program and more.

The year also witnessed valuable visits of eminent personalities including US Governor Nikki Haley; Cabinet Minister General (Retd) VK Singh; MP & former Lok-Sabha Speaker PA Sangma; Punjab Governor H E Shivraj V Patil; Chairman & Managing Director of a Hero Group Company-Mr Mahesh Munjal and more. Similarly, celebrities including Bollywood’s style-icon Sonam Kapoor, Miss Asia Pacific-2013 Srishti Rana, International Chef Vikas Khanna, Pakistan’s super-star Fawad Khan, Living-Legend of Music Gurdas Maan mesmerised LPU students.

Getting prestigious ACBSP USA certification for management programs was a big academic achievement. LPU students also started more than 50 entrepreneurial projects. It includes special initiation for Women Entrepreneurship Project. In the areas of Research and Development, LPU Scientists developed Herbal-Formula for treatment of Diabetes. Three Day Neo-International Conference of Habitable Environments (‘NICHE-2014’) was held for the best architectural know-how. 29th annual conference of Indian Pharmacy

Graduates’ Association was hosted for benefitting medical science students. Global Science Conference EBAS 2014 was organized for next generation frontiers. LPU & SPS Apollo Hospitals also organized fourth Nursing Conference”. Not only LPU honoured its top researchers but other organizations also bestowed honour on LPU faculty. These organizations include Council of Science & Technology UP, Department of Science &Technology New Delhi and more. Students too engineered 1400 real-life projects and participated in Auto Expo 2014 with novel car projects in parallel to super automotive brands of the world. Automobile Giant Maruti Suzuki also accorded special Co-branded Corporate Card ‘My Drive- My Dream Car’ to LPU students.

Thousands of students also got placed with major Fortune companies including Cognizant Technology Solutions, HCL Technologies, IBM, Amdocs, TCS, Mphasis (A Hewlett-Packard company), Redington, Asian Paints, Roots Analysis, IGATE and many more. In addition to this, one student was honoured by President of India, another bagged Dada Saheb Phalke Award in short film category. ‘India Book of Records’ registered MBA Student; Physical Education student represented India in Asian Games at Incheon (South Korea) for Handball Women Team; Journalism student got direct entry to Miss India 2015 Final Round; students of different streams won 9 positions at AIU National fest, Videocon Telecom ‘Young Manch-2’ Grand Finale; Runners-Up Trophy at North Zone Women Open Single Badminton Tournament; and, still more. During Google sponsored global technology conference Google I/O in San Francisco (USA), LPU student met Google Founder & CEO Larry Page in USA.

Adding to these strides, LPU organized many events and also hosted external competitions at its campus including 7th South Asian Universities’ Fest ‘ SAUFEST-2014’; India & Pakistan’s International Deaf teams  T-20 ‘Dosti Cup’ Cricket Match. Events also included live musical concert Coke Studio from MTV; Asia’s first Solar Vehicle Championship; Five-day Global Open Fest- “YOUTH VIBE- 2014”; and ‘Best out of Waste’ projects highlighted PM Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. LPU also proudly organised India’s Largest Private Entrance Test ‘LPU NEST- 2015’.
