Yoga Day celebrated at UHF Nauni

The 9th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni at its campus on Wednesday morning. A team of trainers from Heartfulness Institute, Hyderabad led by Brig. Kuljit Singh (retd.) joined the university students, staff and faculty in the Yoga Day celebrations.

The 9th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni at its campus on Wednesday morning. A team of trainers from Heartfulness Institute, Hyderabad led by Brig. Kuljit Singh (retd.) joined the university students, staff and faculty in the Yoga Day celebrations. 

 

Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of the university was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking at the event, Professor Chandel said that yoga, the scientific Indian practice to keep a healthy mind and body is a must for every individual and people from all walks of life. He said that even though development and progress have given us every possible luxury, it has also brought with them several lifestyle diseases which are now affecting our ability to perform at the highest levels. He urged all the participants to incorporate yoga into their day-to-day activities to lead a healthy and stress-free life.

Speaking at the event, Brig. Kuljit Singh said that yoga and meditation are essential for every individual and are a way of life, which can be incorporated in every aspect of life. In the two-hour-long programme, the participants were apprised of the various yoga asanas and their correct techniques. The benefits of these asanas were also shared with the participants who took an active part in the activity. The yoga session was followed by a meditation session.


Earlier, Dr. Meenu Gupta welcomed the participants and shared the history of yoga day. Dr. Pratima Vaidya presented the vote of thanks. Neera Raghvanshi, Karuna Mohan, and Bhavana from the Heartfulness Institute, all the statutory officers, HODs, scientists and staff were among the over 300 participants that took part in the event. Yoga Day was also celebrated at the University's College of Horticulture and Forestry at Neri and Thunag.
