Youth festivals play major role in sharpening talents of youngsters: SSP Mahal
Jalandhar, November 17, 2019: Inter Zonal Youth Festival began in the premises of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on Saturday. The event has been organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar & hosted by Lyallpur Khalsa College. Navjot Singh Mahal (PPS), SSP Rural Jalandhar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the Day while Dr.Geeta Hundal, Director, Youth Festival, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar participated as the special guest of the inaugural event. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary, Governing Council, and Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the guests with bouquet. In his address, SSP Mahal said that youth festivals play a major role in sharpening the talents of youngsters while addressing the occasion, Dr.Samra remarked that it was a momentous occasion for his College to host the Inter-zonal in which 35 Colleges are participating. Inaugural Day of the Inter-zonal segment would comprise enthusiastic and vibrant items viz. bhangra, group shabad/ bhajan, group song (indian), classical vocal, classical instrumental (percussion and non-percussion), on-the-spot painting, photography, cartooning, poster making, collage, clay modelling and installation. Judging the highly talented students performing these items was a tough ask even for the ace judges Day 2 of the youth festival on 17th November (today) will witness folk orchestra, mimicry, skit, one act play, western vocal (solo), western group song, elocution, poetic symposium, debate, phulkari and rangoli competitions.
