DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION ORGANISES DISTRICT-LEVEL FUNCTION AT MERITORIOUS SCHOOL TODAY Ludhiana, April 14, 2019: On the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R.Ambedkar, the District Administration Ludhiana organised a district-level function at Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, here today. Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal was the chief guest on the occasion, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Jagraon) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta was the guest of honour. Earlier, during the day, the Deputy Commissioner also paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar installed in District Administrative Complex, here. While addressing the students of Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, Mr Agrawal Dr B.R. Ambedkar was an outstanding leader of our freedom struggle and a staunch crusader for the rights of the downtrodden and traditionally disadvantaged sections of our society. "A scholar, educationist, legal luminary, social reformer and political leader, Dr Ambedkar's philosophy and life are an inspirational profile of courage and conviction," he said. He also exhorted the youth to follow the path shown by Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar and said that Indian Constitution was the result Dr Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and vision. On this occasion, a quiz competition on the life of Dr B.R. Ambedkar was also organised, besides students also presented a cultural item on national integration, besides several other activities. Prominent among those present on the occasion included IAS (Under Training) Mr Sagar Setia, SDM Payal Mrs Swati Tiwana, Principal of Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students Ludhiana Col (Retd) Amarjit Singh, besides several others.
