Bengaluru, January 11, 2023: Padma Shri Dr. Kiran Seth, Professor-Emeritus at IIT-Delhi and founder of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) visited IFIM College, Bengaluru for a discourse on the awareness of different aspects of Indian heritage through music and art. Dr. Kiran Seth cycled with the students of IFIM Institutions, Bengaluru at 06:30 AM, commencing from IFIM Institutions till Bommasandra, making it a 7 km long ride. The aim of the cycling event was to promote living on a minimalist approach and to live a health-driven life instead of a wealth-driven life.
On this occasion, Dr. Kiran Seth said, “I believe when anyone hears that a 73-year-old is trying to cycle this far, those who are interested will come to see, and then I can speak about SPIC MACAY. Even when cycling, carrying just three pairs of clothes, on a gearless cycle, you can get Ananda Prapti.”
“A concentrated mind can achieve anything in this world if he puts his mind to that particular task, one with a concentrated mind will not be bothered by any kind of distractions,” he added.
In his address to the students, he shared his experiences and intention for the mission of cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and reflected upon his journey with SPIC MACAY while motivating the youth to imbibe the values embedded in Indian heritage. He elaborated on the threefold mission of his journey; mental and physical health, and awareness about SPIC MACAY, and his aim is to introduce Gandhiji's message of simple living and high thinking to the students at IFIM. He also explained to the students that simply practicing basic yoga, listening to music on a daily basis, preserving Indian culture and heritage, and a minimalistic approach to live a health-driven life instead of a wealth-driven one can drastically enhance the mental and physical aspect and add value to one’s life.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Padode, Chair of IFIM Institutions said, “IFIM fosters world-class education by nurturing human values, and ethics and by imparting knowledge, which emphasizes on life skills. I welcome and thank Padma Shri Dr. Kiran Seth, who visited and offered valuable guidance and inspirational talk for the students of IFIM Institution.
