Science and technology caught the eyes of the students as they visited Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), bio-gas plant and planetarium during the field visits organised by Municipal Corporation (MC) under Youth in Urban Governance (YUG) program on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, July 25,2023: Science and technology caught the eyes of the students as they visited Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), bio-gas plant and planetarium during the field visits organised by Municipal Corporation (MC) under Youth in Urban Governance (YUG) program on Tuesday. 

During the visit to ICCC established in MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar under smart city mission, the students of KVM school were apprised about the technological developments and how the authorities are keeping a vigil across the city by sitting in a room through over 1400 cameras installed in different parts of the city.

On the other hand, students of Mount International School were thrilled to visit the bio-gas plant in Haibowal Dairy complex and learn about the process of producing bio-gas out of cow dung. The authorities had arranged a tour of the plant for the students and they were apprised about the process which is followed to produce bio-gas.

One of the students of KVM school, Puneet said that it was exciting to learn about how the authorities are watching everything that is happening on city roads through the CCTv cameras installed across the city. Also they are monitoring the movement of traffic, air quality in the city.

Two separate groups of students from KVM school and Government Senior Secondary school, Gobind Nagar also visited the Nehru planetarium near Rose garden and learned about astronomy through different videos displayed on the dome shaped planetarium.
 
Students of Mount International School, Disha and Ishnoor lauded the authorities for organising the field trips. The students stated that it was an informative session as the authorities apprised them of the different processes. It was exciting to see how cow dung is used to make bio-gas and manure is also being produced in this process.

MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal stated that the field trips are being organised by the civic body with an aim to inculcate practical knowledge among the students about what is happening in their surroundings. This will also help them to learn new things and contribute towards sustainable development in future.

The officials stated that more such visits would be organised in the coming days as many schools have already registered with the MC under the YUG program.
