Zee TV's historical magnum opus offers viewers unparalleled grandeur and a slick, international appeal...

Production values like never before on Indian television!

Having aired its first episode last Sunday, Zee TV’s latest historical magnum opus ‘Buddha’ produced by Spice Studios has opened up to an overwhelming response from the audience thanks to its international look and feel, as also its grand scale. We have all read about Buddha at some point. Yet, so much remains to be explored about this powerful, magnetic thought leader who woke up to the ‘Ultimate Truth’ under the Bodhi Tree. We know the leader and his school of thought, but little do we know about the beautiful person within. The show presents Siddhartha’s illustrious journey of being born in the lap of luxury as a prince to denouncing his throne and living the life of an ascetic to attain enlightenment. It is simulcast at 11 AM every Sunday on Zee TV and Doordarshan.

‘Buddha’ is a slick, entertaining drama that showcases the unexplored life of Buddha in 52 gripping episodes. The opulent sets designed by renowned art director and set designer Varsha Jain stand tall at Mumbai's Film City, spread over a sprawling 5 acre plot. Tibetan, Chinese & Sri Lankan manuscripts and books such as 'Old Path, White Cloud' were used as references to ensure authenticity in the re-creation of the palaces and monuments of the era.

Well-researched costumes bought out of Jodhpur and Jaipur and specially customized jewellery sourced from Patna - each set worth lakhs of rupees - have brought alive the majestic lifestyles of the royal family of Kapilavastu. The minute attention to detail has paid off, with every frame of the show looking royal and resplendent!

A highly qualified VFX director with international exposure and world-class expertise was roped in to ensure that the 3D graphics used in the show create breathtaking visuals that only add to the aura and mystique of a bygone era.

An elaborate outdoor shoot schedule was planned across gorgeous locales in and around Kashmir,  presenting the able crew with an opportunity to capture nature's bounty in all its glory - The clear, blue skies, the pristine air, snow-capped peaks, the lush green meadows and colorful flower gardens have helped lay down a vibrant canvas for Buddha's story to unfold!

Beyond the top-notch production values of 'Buddha', the show also boasts of an impressive cast with renowned names like Kabir Bedi, Samir Dharmadhikari and Nigaar Khan playing pivotal roles. The narrative of the show has been kept swift and packed with exciting developments bound to keep the audiences glued to every episode. With so many winning aspects to its credit, Zee TV and Spice Studio sure have an impressive historical show with international appeal on their hands!
