Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival 2024 Starts at Panjab University
Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival 2024 of Zone 1 started at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today.
Chandigarh, October 21, 2024: Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival 2024 of Zone 1 started at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today.
Noted singer Bhupinder Babbal was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora was the guest of honour.
Event started by paying tributes to Late Paras, one of the team members of the Panjab University Bhangra team and student of Department of Sociology, who passed away last week in a road accident.
Addressing the students, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig motivated the participants and highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in students life. PU Registrar Prof YP Verma, DSW Prof Amit Chauhan, large number of students and officers of the university also participated in the function.
This year Zone 1 includes both Zone A and Zone B of Chandigarh region.
As many as nineteen teams from different colleges and institutions are participating in various events of the festival i.e dramatics, dance performance, literary items, fine arts and heritage items. Events of Shabad, Bhajan, Folk Instruments and Folk Orchestra were organised on the first day.
Various competitive events would be organised at seven different venues during the five days youth festival. About 2,000 students are expected to participate in various events. Footfall of more than 15,000 is expected in the university during the festival.
